giddy up!

on our way out west, we stopped in arkansas - Horseshoe Canyon.  ummm, it was O.K.  the bouldering was fun.  however, the Canyon is a working ranch, so there are goats everywhere.  yea yea, cute and all but it also means their poop is also everywhere.  it was sickkk nasty.  i was not a fan.  its a bummer because the climbing was fun, and i would have liked to try more.  however, i didnt like putting my pad down in certain places.  i barely even wanted to step in some places.  ick.  we ended up only staying for one day and night.  it started raining the next day, so we headed for texas.

you can see the cliff on the right.  there are short sport climbs and boulders.  they are right next to each other.  kinda neat :)

we stopped for a few days in Fort Worth, Texas.  we stayed with jason's friends - matt and nikki.  thank you for your hospitality!  we visited a stockyard street where they "walk" the cattle daily.  cowboys get on horses and take the cattle out on an exercise walk down the road and back to their ranch.  it was pretty neat!  the horns on these things were amazing!  in the evening, we went to a dueling piano bar.  pretty sweet!  three musicians would rotate, two of them were always on stage.  they took requests from the audience and would play any song on the pianos - and maybe drums, harmonica, b-box (yes B-BOX!), a little bit of rap.. you name it!  they were really, really talented!

these horse-drawn (maybe they were mule-drawn) carriages were on the road before we even got to the stockyard!
